1. What does a Tap Box do?

A Tap Box is an electrical pass-through device that allows a portable (temporary) generator to be quickly connected to a buildings load.

2. How long does it take to connect a generator?

The building will literally be hooked up in a matter of minutes with quick plug-and-play industry standard Cam-Locks. The older traditional method would take hours to have the generator “wired in” to the buildings electrical panel.

3. What else is needed?

The normal set up for a Tap Box includes the Tap Box, a transfer switch, and electrical components (wire, pipe etc) typically supplied by the installing contractor.

4. What Tap Box models are available?

Standard models include 400 and 800 amp rated boxes. Larger boxes are a special order and are quoted per job.

5. What is the lead time to obtain a Powertron Tap Box?

Our standard models usually ship within one week. Larger quantities and custom configurations will be stipulated when quoted.
